I gotta tip my hat to Tire Rack.
Sport Edition A7 in Painted Black - General Altimax Tires
I’m really impressed with the turn around here. I’ve order tires only before and it was an easy enough experience, probably took a few days. This time it’s 4 wheels with mounted snow tires and they were delivered 24 hours after the purchase.
What a world we live in? Order processed, wheels & tires mounted and balanced, shipped from NV to WA in almost exactly 24 hours.
This one ^ keeps getting Kinja’d sideways, but oh well. ¯\_()_/¯
Now I just need a spot other than my kitchen to keep these for the next 2 days until my jack, lug wrench, and blocks arrive (thanks BMW for not having a spare anymore, but also no jack or lug wrench.)
Anyway, I should be good for the rest of the winter ski season. I’ve made two trips up to Steven’s Pass for skiing in the 228i and, while the roads have been perfectly safe, I’m not quite sure how I made it in and out of the parking lots with RWD + summer tires (aside from the helpful people pushing me.)

No jack or lug wrench? What the f**k BMW?

Bruh, for real. That and needing special blocks to use at the jack points. Guess they just want you to go to the dealer for *everything* but, c’mon.

Yeah that was my take, too. Effing ridiculous. I’m considering a BMW for my next car, but run flats are a non-starter for me, so I guess I’d need to get a jack, too?

Yeah, jack and then some BMW-adapter-block-thingy for the jack points.
In lieu of a spare, there is a “fix a flat” type of can that is approved for use in run flats that I’ve seen on some forums. I’ve also seen people just straight up buy a donut and secure it, but...ya know, bulk.

Hmm, you can still buy a BMW without run flats (special order only probably), and now I’m wondering whether those have a donut and jack or just fix-a-flat in a can.
And you might be able to use a jack from an older BMW - not sure if the blocks have changed, but my OEM jack (2000 MY car) slots perfectly into that car’s jack points.

Yeah, you’re right. There is also some space in the trunk that looks ripe for the typical trunk-hidden jack and tool kit (though the battery does kill space).
The winter setup will be run-flat free and TPMS free because...I ain’t shelling out the $ for that. I’ll monitor my own pressure and thanks to
this guy
for reminding us to always use a digital tire pressure gauge!

Honestly, as good as tires are these days, I wouldn’t lose much sleep without a spare in the back or TPMS.
Just make sure that digital tire pressure gauge is calibrated correctly and certified - a 1.5 PSI difference between tires could send you over the median sideways (that article NEVER gets old, although I’m ashamed to own the same brand as that assclown).

I might fall into a hole and see if I can find out whatever happened to that car...

Three of mine matched your time. The fourth didn’t make it on the truck that day so it spent the weekend clubbing in Baltimore. Where I ironically ended up driving to immediately after putting them on.

Ha! That must have been such a tease to have 3.

Wait a minute, you’re a BMW owner and you don’t have a jack, or a socket set/breaker bar? Oh my, you’re living dangerously my friend. You know hockey pucks work for pinch weld protectors too. You can even slot them if you want a nice tight fit.

Okay, okay - that’s fair. To my defense, I sold most belongings and moved cross country to a small apartment. I ain’t got no room! (where am I storing wheels? idk)

Lol. I keed I keed. Been there, done that too. But I eventually ended up with lots of duplicate tools as I still maintained a home while working out of town during the week, or longer stints, depending on where I was working. Fun times.

When afternoon snow was forecast a couple weeks ago I told my wife to take the Xterra. She takes her M3. Fast forward to nighttime, loading a 3yo and 10mo in the Xterra to go rescue Mom... I actually bought an extra set of M3 wheels for winter tires but then instead I just kept the Xterra.
Unrelated: My 3yo is Myles with a Y. Good name. I wanted to name the 2nd one Miles with an I but got overruled.

I can’t blame her for taking the M3 at all. Drivers gonna drive.
Nice name for the kid!
In my younger and more vulnerable years
I didn’t enjoy it because it was a tad different, but now I like it. I wish him well.

Yeah I don’t blame her either, the forecast was iffy, she got off a lot later than expected, and... she drives an M3. Just happy that I managed to keep her pristine wheels from sliding into the curb. Plus, I put that car in a ditch once, so I can’t really whine!
I’m Kris with a K, so I get it. They only had pink “Kris” bike license plates at Disneyland.

I ditched the run flats, but am a little frightened chicken about running with no spare. I do live in a semi-rural mountainous area with spotty cell coverage so roadside AAA pickup might be an adventure.

Ah, I don’t blame you - I’m in the suburbs of Chicago, so it’s not an issue for me. Maybe buy a donut and jack and toss in the trunk for peace of mind?
As MylesD notes, I think those cars have a well under the trunk mat for it —
